Causes of the Styrofoam Problem

Writer's picture: StudentsAgainstStyrofoamStudentsAgainstStyrofoam

The mass overuse and uncommon recycling of styrofoam packaging (such as washing machine transportation supports, one-use iceboxes, and packing peanuts) contributes to the build up of styrofoam in landfills and our environment. Styrofoam recycling facilities and specialized disposal bins are few and far between, and many people do not know how to dispose of styrofoam. The lack of awareness and education surronding styrofoam use and disposal perpetuates the extreme buildup and usage of styrofoam.
