Dangerous Consequences

Writer's picture: StudentsAgainstStyrofoamStudentsAgainstStyrofoam

Styrofoam isn't just a problem for the future, it's a problem right now. Each year, 8 Million tons of styrofoam end up in natural bodies of water, destroying picturesque landscapes and choking the wildlife that mistake floating styrofoam for food. Bioaccumulation causes the smaller bits of styrofoam swallowed by fish and other aquatic life to build up in higher trophic levels, causing further issues for the organisms' health.
